Why am I becoming frugal? Read on…

I recently became inspired by another Frugal’s blog. For those of you new to the term, a frugal is someone who lives a frugal lifestyle, by planning their lives better, spending less, couponing, sharing money saving ideas, etc.

Here’s me: in my 30’s, married but no kids, with a college education and a decent job, but I have debt. Here’s the woman who runs the blog that inspired me: maybe in her late 20’s, married, with 2 kids and one on the way, living on a single income, debt free, with a full emergency fund, savings, and not living paycheck to paycheck. What really made me gasp was her post on her and her husband’s goal of saving enough money to buy a home with 100% down, and they’re almost there! WOW!

I read this, and was inspired. I want to become more frugal too! Saving more money will certainly reduce my stress! That’s what I’ve set out to do. This is my journey to becoming more frugal, and living simply to live better. Over the last few weeks I’ve started couponing, not eating out as much, and other things to get into the frugal groove. I have found it exciting, I’m saving money on a daily basis!

Whenever I find myself getting a great deal, or finding a successful frugal idea, I want to email all my friends to tell them! Which is one reason I’m starting this blog. Rather than bombard my friends with emails about the free items I got at CVS today, or how my recent baking and freezing muffins to grab on the go was AWESOME and delicious, I decided to post it here, where I can blab all I want! I’m hoping this will also help me keep up with my goals, what I’ve accomplished, and what works and what doesn’t. ;) Besides, My husband’s eyes are getting tired of rolling around when I come home with my new CVS loot or get all excited about coupons, so I’ll share my great deals with my blog instead! I know he’ll get jealous eventually. ;)

I’ve decided to lay out the frugal goals that will get me there. (ie, couponing to save money, meal planning to save time and money.) I hope to blog daily about my adventures on this journey, if you’re also new to the frugal lifestyle, like me, and not yet a jedi master frugal, you can see how it goes for me, and maybe share your experiences, challenges, ideas as well. And hey, I might still grab a pizza on my way home after a long day of work, I’m taking on this frugal thing bit by bit. ;)

I would like to mention, that the woman who inspired me runs an excellent blog that I couldn’t even start to compete with, nor would I want to, I’m just blogging about my journey and hoping to share, but she has a much more informational and helpful site you should also check out: http://moneysavingmom.com.  I’ve been reading her blog daily now, searching for money saving ideas, sales, CVSing (more on that later) and meal planning. Thanks for the inspiration MoneySavingMom!
